Originating from a palace dish in the Ryukyu Kingdom, the former name of Okinawa, Okinawa soba noodles are regarded as one of the popular Japanese noodles all over Japan nowadays. This product is an instant version of this Okinawan dish that allows you to experience it at home.
Typically, Okinawa soba consists of flat noodles, pork- and bonito-based soup, and toppings including braised pork belly, sliced fish cake, green onion, and beni-shoga (Japanese red pickled ginger). Despite its name, noodles of Okinawa soba do not include soba buckwheat at all.
According to the manufacturer, this type of Okinawa soba is a recreation of the classic Ryukyu-style, so exploring this soba is a good starting point for exploring Okinawan culinary culture.
For one serving, put the noodles into a pot of boiling water, and cook them for 5~6 minutes. If you do not like semi-boiled noodles, cook them longer until they reach the desired softness.
Meanwhile, add the powdered soup to the ramen bowl, and blend it with 250~270cc (approx. 8.5~9.2 us fl oz.) of boiling water.
Transfer the noodles to the bowl, and the Okinawa soba is ready to eat. You can add pork, fish cake, green onion, beni-shoga, and more to make it heartier.
